    Chapter 100 - kR^iShNa enters assembly hall
vaishampAyana uvAcha
tataH saMpUjya garuDaM vAsudevo.anumAnya cha |
sakhivachchopagR^ihyainamanujaj~ne gR^ihaM prati ||2-100-1
VaishampAyana said:
(O janamejaya!) Afterwards, the son of vasudeva (kR^iShNa) worshipped and
honoured garuDa, considering him as a friend and gave permission to return
to his home.
so.anuj~nAto hi satkR^itya praNamya cha janArdanam |
UrdhvamAchakrame pakShI yatheShTaM gaganecharaH ||2-100-2
Accepting the honour and receiving the permission, garuDa bowed to the one
who excites men (kR^iShNa). The bird (garuDa) who travels in the sky as he
likes, rose up and flew away.
sa pakShavAtasa~NkShubdhaM samudraM makarAlayam |
kR^itvA vegena mahatA yayau pURvamahodadhim ||2-100-3
He agitated the ocean, the residence of sharks, by fanning his wings and
reached the great ocean on the east with high speed.
kR^ityakAle upasthAsya ityuktvA garuDe gate |
kR^iShNo dadarsha pitaraM vR^iddhamAnakadundubhim ||2-100-4
After garuDa went away saying: "I shall arrive as and when required",
kR^iShNa met his father, the aged Anakadundubhi (vasudeva -
drums were beaten at the time of his birth).
ugrasenaM cha rAjAnaM baladevaM cha sAtyakim |
kAshyaM sAndIpaniM chaiva brahmagArgyaM tathaiva cha ||2-100-5
Afterwards, kR^iShNa met king ugrasena, baladeva (balarAma) and sAtyaki,
sAndIpani of kAshi as also the brAhmin gArgya.
anyAMshcha vR^iddhAnvR^iShNInAM tAMshcha bhojAndhakAMstathA |
ratnapravekairdAshArhAnvIryalabdhaistathArchayat ||2-100-6
In the same manner, kR^iShNa met the other old vR^iShNi-s as well as bhoja-s
and andhakA-s. kR^iShNa honoured the dAshArha-s with the best jewels
obtained by his valiance.
hatA brahmadviShaH sarve jayantyandhakavR^iShNayaH |
raNAtpratinivR^itto.ayamakShato madhusUdanaH ||2-100-7
"All those who hate brahma are killed. andhaka-s and vR^iShNi-s are
victorius. The slayer of madhu (kR^iShNa ) has returned uninjured from
battle."
iti chatvararathyAsu dvAravatyAm supUjitaH |
chAkriko ghoShayAmAsa puruSho mR^iShTakuNDalaH ||2-100-8
This was announced by the announcer of the king's orders, wearing ear
rings, respected by all, on all the crossings and roads of dvAraka.
tataH sAndIpaniM pUrvamabhigamya janArdanaH |
vavande vR^iShNinR^ipatimAhukaM vinayAnvitaH ||2-100-9
Then the one who excites men (kR^iShNa) first bowed to sAndIpani. Then he
bowed to the lord of vR^iShNi-s, Ahuka, (ugrasena) with humility.
tathA hi paripUrNAkShamAnandAgatachetasam |
vavande saha rAmeNa pitaraM vAsavAnujaH ||2-100-10
Then the younger brother of vAsava (kR^iShNa), along with (bala)rAma,
bowed to his father, whose eyes were filled with tears and whose mind was
full of happiness.
upagamya tathA sheShAnsatkR^itya cha yathArhataH |
sarveShAM nAma jagrAha dAshArhANAmadhokShajaH ||2-100-11
Then, kR^iShNa went to others and respected them as they deserve. Then
adhokShaja (kR^iShNa) called all dAshArha-s by name.
tataH sarvANi divyAni sarvaratnamayAni cha |
AsanAgryANi vivishurupendrapramukhAstadA ||2-100-12
Then upendra (kR^ishNa) and all prominent (yAdava-s) sat on the divine best
seats, decorated all over by jewels.
tatastaddhanamakShayyaM ki~NkarairyatsamAhR^itam |
tatsabhAmAnayAmAsuH puruShAH kR^iShNashAsanAt ||2-100-13
As ordered by kR^iShNa, men brought the un-decaying wealth collected by
ki~Nkara to that assembly.
tataH sammAnayAmAsa dAshArhAMshcha yadUttamaH |
sarvAndundubhishabdena pUjayiShya~njanArdanaH ||2-100-14
Then the best of yAdava-s (kR^iShNa) honoured all the dAshArha-s .
The one who excites men (kR^iShNa) worshipped all, accompanied by the sound
of trumpets.
tAmAsanavatIM ramyAM maNividrumatoraNAm |
sabhAM sarvadashArhAste vivishuH kR^iShNashAsanAt ||2-100-15
As ordered by kR^iShNa, all the dAshArha-s, entered and sat in the beautiful
assembly, decorated by jewels, trees and arches, having best seats.
tataH puruShasiMhairyA yadubhiH sarvato vR^itA |
sarvArthaguNasaMpannA sA sabhA bharatarShabha |
shushubhe.abhyadhikaM shubhrA siMhairgiriguhA yathA ||2-100-16
O the bull of bhArata race! (janamejaya! vaishampAyana continued) Then that
assembly with all the lions of yAdava race became complete with all kinds
of wealth and qualities, and dazzled brightest, like a mountain cave,
resided by lions.
rAmeNa saha govindaH kA~nchanaM mahadAsanam |
ugrasenaM puraskR^itya bhojavR^iShNipuraskR^itaH ||2-100-17
govinda (kR^iShNa), the one who was felicitated by bhoja-s and vR^iShNi-s,
keeping ugrasena in front, sat on a best golden seat, along with (bala)rAma.
tatropaviShTAMstAnvIrAnyathAprItiryathAvayaH |
samAbhAshya yadushreShThAnuvAcha puruShottamaH ||2-100-18
The best among men (kR^iShNa) called upon the valiant, the best of yAdava
race, who were seated, according to the order of age and position and said:
iti shrImahAbhArate khileShu harivaMshe viShNuparvaNi
sabhApraveshanaM nAma shatatamo.adhyayaH
Thus this is the hundredth chapter of viShNuparva, harivaMsha, khila of
mahabhArata, KR^iShNa enters assembly hall
